Nasdaq Penny Stock Gainers: WWIN, FONR, QUIK, CYBI, BMTI

After an amazing first quarter, the Nasdaq and five Nasdaq listed penny stocks started the second quarter with a bang.  The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.91% to 3,119.70, while shares in WWIN, FONR, QUIK, CYBI and BMTI led the hot penny stock list on the exchange.

WWIN Winner Medical Group $4.00  +0.60 (17.64%)

 

Shares in Winner Medical Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WWIN) jumped 17.64% after the company’s chairman and CEO, Jianquan Li, offered to buy the penny stock of the medical dressing and consumer product maker and take it private. The deal, an offer of $4.30 for the outstanding WWIN stock, values the company at roughly $104.8 million. (see 8-K here)

The chairman and CEO of the Shenzhen, China-based company said they want to buy all of the outstanding shares of WWIN that he and his wife, owners of roughly 74% of the company’s stock, do not already own. They would be paying about $27.2 million for the remaining WWIN stock.

FONR Fonar Corp. $3.05  +0.37 (13.77%)

 

Shares in Fonar Corp. (Nasdaq: FONR) jumped 13.77% to $3.05 off of no significant news or press releases from the company. The penny stock company that provides upright multi-positional MRI scanners and the FONAR 360 MRI scanner last reported earnings for the six months ended December 31, 2011 back on February 14th. There were a total of 903 trades executed for a total of 483,872 shares traded on FONR in the last trading session. The penny stock FONR has 6.22 million shares outstanding and a market capitalization of $16.66 million.

QUIK QuickLogic Corp. $3.09  +0.36 (13.19%)

 

After dropping -59% in 2011 and having only gained about 5% until Monday, the penny stock QuickLogic Corp. (Nasdaq: QUIK) jumped 36 cents, 13.19%, to close at $3.09. 1,680 trades with an average trade size of 422 shares were executed for a total volume of 709,284, more than five times the 3 month average volume for QUIK. Shares in QUIK rose on speculation the company’s products will gain favor with top-tier manufacturers. QuickLogic develops and markets low power customizable semiconductor solutions for tablets, smartbooks, netbooks, cloudbooks, smartphones, datacards, and mobile enterprise products. CYBI Cybex International $2.85  +0.32 (12.65%)

 

Shares in Cybex International Inc. (Nasdaq: CYBI) have gained 578.57% in 2012 after the penny stock of CYBI was on the brink of being delisted from the Nasdaq. Shares in CYBI, manufacturer of exercise equipment and cardiovascular fitness equipment, gained 32 cents, 12.65%, to close at $2.85. Cybex International released their 10-K. (see 10-K here)

A total of 2,062 trades were exectued on the Nasdaq penny stock CYBI for a total volume of 804,106. The company that reported $140.1 million in Net Sales for 2011 is proof that fitness products are a growing and lucrative market place.

BMTI BioMimetic Therapeutics $2.77  +0.30 (12.15%)

 

Shares in BioMimetic Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: BMTI) jumped 30 cents, 12.15%, on Monday. News that corporate insider Samuel Lynch, President and CEO of BMTI, reported to the SEC three purchases of the penny stock BMTI provided investor optimism. The purchases took place between March 29th and 30th and totaled 70,000 shares of the BioMimetric Therapeutics stock. (see Form 4 here)

Share price in the penny stock of BMTI is up 35.12% in the last 20 trading sessions.
