Two days before the surfer inspired apparel maker is to report its latest earnings, Quiksilver, Inc. (NYSE: ZQK) stock has hit a new 52-Week low today. ZQK stock is currently trading at $2.495, down -0.085 and has traded as low as $2.48 during Tuesday’s trading session. The previous 52 week low on the NYSE listed penny stock was set just yesterday, proof that ZQK shares cannot find the brake handle for the slide they have been on since March 26th when the penny stock closed at $4.49 on volume of 1.94 million.

Although the share performance has been less than “Awesome“, optimism continues to surround Quiksilver as 6 Wall Street analysts rate ZQK as a “buy“, none rate it as a “sell“, and 3 rate it as a “hold“. Thursday, analysts look to see a rise of 4% in revenue from the year-earlier quarter to $497.4 million and an average estimate of a profit of 2 cents per share.
Quiksilver came up short of analysts’ estimates last quarter after being in line with forecasts the previous quarter. In the first quarter, ZQK reported a loss of 13 cents per share versus a mean estimate of 10 cents. Two quarters ago, Quiksilver reported net income of 6 cents per share.
Bottom Line: ZQK is at the top of the list of cheap penny stocks right now. At the current level the stock is priced at, it wouldn’t be surprising to see insiders start making open market purchases. Other casual apparel makers who target the same consumer sector Quiksilver does have been rewarded lately like PSUN and TLYS which have had good months in May and April. Could June be the summer kickoff of a ZQK bull run?
