Today’s OTC Market trading activity looked as if it was being managed by Morris Buttermaker, Coach of the Bad News Bears. The most actively traded penny stocks took a bath on Thursday, a blood bath, with only one bright spot, NanoTech Entertainment Inc. (OTC: NTEK). Had it not been for traders rushing into NTEK stock after announcing positive news from CES in Las Vegas both yesterday and midday today, the list of penny stocks on the most traded sheet would be nothing but red, even American Airlines’ AMR Corp. (AAMRQ) which gave back all of its early morning gains to close lower in after market trading.

NanoTech Entertainment announced Wednesday from CES in Vegas the completion of a development contract with 3D Crave to provide its proprietary Side By Side user interface technology to them for their upcoming Roku Channel. The news was enough to send NTEK up 0.0007, 50%, on Wednesday to 0.0021 on volume of 55,116,297.
Today’s mid-session announcement that NanoTech Entertainment completed a partnership agreement to launch the upcoming Que Pasa TV channel which sent NTEK into orbit. The channel is said to be Latino focused (who would have thunk it with a name like Que Pasa) including local Latino community programming, On-Demand viewing of Latino cultural shows and movies, and Streaming of Live events including concerts. Coupled with the blood bath of all the other highly traded OTC stocks, the back-to-back news announcements were enough to send NTEK stock to its 3rd highest volume session since early November.
Bottom Line: The Market Makers controlled the penny stocks today for the most part. Knowledge of Level 2 trading is what saved many today, especially when you see two or MM’s load up on the ask side. Friday’s already looking grim with GBEN back on the rinse and repeat cycle for anyone looking to lose more money before the weekend.
