Stock To Watch: GelTech Solutions Could Soon Catch Fire

Just a couple of weeks ago, a fast moving wildfire outside of Reno, Nevada destroyed 20 homes, in the exact same area where in November a similar wildfire destroyed 30 homes. If the homeowners and the fire department had new FireIce Technology by GelTech Solutions (OTCBB: GLTC), the loss of homes may have been significantly reduced or avoided.

On January 4, 2012, Chief Ben Steele, East Glacier VFD, reported, ”our department responded to what began as a small grass fire, but turned out to be one of the largest wild land fires in Blackfeet history. We were quickly dispatched to a rural community that was in the path of the raging fire. The fire was screaming across the plains driven by winds with gusts up to 70 mph. Understanding we were pressed for time, I determined that the homes in the immediate path of the fire needed to be coated and protected by FireIce. FireIce far exceeded our expectations. The homes coated with FireIce were not damaged by the fire. Everything that we didn’t touch with FireIce was nothing but ashes.”

“In my 22 years of firefighting,” Chief Ben Steele added, “I’ve never seen or come across a product that is as efficient and effective as FireIce and I have used other commonly used suppression products such as foam, other gels and fire retardants. Our department will be using FireIce on every structure and car fire that we respond to in the future.”

GelTech Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: GLTC) a Company based in Jupiter, Florida introduced FireIce a new potentially revolutionary Gel Fire Suppression Technology that may be the most significant advancement in providing firefighters the ability to quickly extinguish extremely hot burning fires and protect property, as a medium term fire retardant, from oncoming fire danger. FireIce helps keep water from evaporating before it reaches the flames and deprives the fire of oxygen, which puts out the fire, utilizing significantly less water than using water alone. The gel product allows fire crews to do their work faster, using less water and, most importantly, keeps everybody safer.

GLTC‘sFireIce is so effective that, in demonstrations, the CEO coats his hand in FireIce and puts his hand in the flame of a 2000-degree blowtorch flame.

FireIce is an Earth Friendly, Non-Toxic, Cost Effective fire suppressant that can be used in all types of apparatus; fire extinguishers, pumper trucks, aerial units for wildfires and the Company’s Home Defense Units (HDU’s) for personal home protection which are available on the company’s website.

FireIce is also third party tested and complies with NFPA 10 and 18A standards for Portable Fire Extinguishers and Water additives for fire control, respectively. FireIce is approved for use in Texas, Colorado and Florida, with approvals pending in Montana, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Perhaps more important for GLTC is that, following 24 months of evaluations, FireIce has been added to the United States Forest Service (USFS) Qualified Products List (QPL) in March 2011, approving FireIce for use on all National and State Forest Service lands  with ground application equipment and can be dropped from planes and helicopters to suppress spreading wildfires.

This alone is a $100 million opportunity for GelTech Solutions. GelTech has also recently gained approvals in China, Russia and Australia.

As news of the efficacy of FireIce becomes known and the product becomes a mainstay in firefighting and fire prevention, GelTech’s sales should grow rapidly.

With these approvals GelTech Solutions has been diligent in signing distribution agreements domestically and globally. These agreements are minimum sales guaranteed based and should begin to generate significant revenue for the Company over the next few quarters.

December 6, 2011 GelTech signed IMCD Group B.V. to be the master distributor of FireIce in Australia and New Zealand. IMCD is a leading company in sales, marketing and distribution of food ingredients and specialty chemicals.

IMCD is headquartered in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, has annual revenues of €1 billion and employs over 1,000 professionals in 35 countries. For the five-year term of the agreement, IMCD will be the exclusive distributor of FireIce in Australia and New Zealand, subject to meeting defined annual product purchase minimums. This relationship could expand into other territories where IMCD has a strong presence in the next few years.

GLTC is on the cusp of becoming a fast growing company. After a market sell-off, the stock price is trading around $0.60/share and GelTech has a market cap of just over $13 million.
On April 7, 2011, the stock was trading at a high of $3.75/share and it may be getting ready to head back in that direction.

The stock chart shows the stock is right at the long-term downtrend line and any surge in volume and stock price should provide a significant technical breakout to the upside.

GelTech has a second product soon to be launched, called Soil2O, which GelTech believes, reduces irrigation requirements by 50%. With the water constraint issues in the Western United States, Soil20 could have a significant impact on the treatment of landscaping, turf, golf courses and even horticulture and agriculture in the U.S.

With two large market products rolling out over the next few years, the numerous recent product approvals and the success FireIce has seen in fighting actual fires over the last 9 months, GelTech Solutions looks to be significantly undervalued.
